ICE is no longer a part of the registration process here at Furman. When registration opens for you, you will register directly for any open course sections, just like you have done during the drop-add period or which we used to refer to as CAP.
You will be randomly assigned a start time for registration along with everyone else who entered Furman in the same class (seniors, juniors, sophomores and then freshman). You will be alerted by e-mail a few days before your start time about when you can begin registering for spring.
Your start time is based on when you started at Furman, so seniors will begin registering first, juniors will begin registering the following week, then sophomores and finally freshman. Priority in each class standing group will be assigned to all students who are up-to-date with their CLPs, so be sure attend at least 4 CLPs every term to stay on track for this requirement.
Registration start times will occur between 5:30PM and 10:30PM on weekdays to not interfere with attendance in your current classes. You don’t need to worry about missing your time slot though. Once registration is open to you, it will not close until after the current semester ends when we expect all returning students to have their initial course schedules built.
You can continue to make changes until web-based drop-add closes for all students at the conclusion of the 4th day of the semester.
Just like before, all students are required to meet with their academic advisor prior to registering for courses. Be sure you’ve been in touch with your advisor, so when your start time is reached, you will be able to sign into MyFurman and add courses directly to your schedule.
Finally, be sure to keep an eye on our Important Dates page, and your Furman e-mail for more information about when registration will open for next term. Want to see what we’ve told advisors about these changes to registration, check out the boring Powerpoint presentation we used to explain the new process.
Still have questions? Attend one of the student forums on the changes or contact us. We are glad to help, no matter what!
