About the Digital Collections Center

The Digital Collections Center partners with Furman faculty, Library Special Collections and Archives, and other members of the Furman community in the creation of unique digital collections to support instruction and research. The Digital Collections Center adds value to its collections by providing rich descriptive information as well as tools such as customized maps and timelines. Faculty, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and Information Technology and Services frequently partner with the Digital Collections Center to investigate and implement innovative digital technologies that enhance teaching and learning.

Digital Collections Center Services include:

  • Collaborating with faculty to enhance the effective integration of digital technologies for innovative teaching and learning;
  • Digitizing analog materials (including slides, print photographs, audio, and text) whose copyright allows for such digitization;
  • Assigning metadata to submitted digital objects;
  • Organizing submitted digital objects and their metadata into accessible and easily usable collections;
  • Adding value to submitted digital objects through linking to additional resources, mapping using GoogleEarth, developing timelines, etc.

The Digital Collections are built on and powered by LUNA Insight.
